Our Outreach Team is also always present and available to meet with guests at our Free Farmers Markets. Please visit our Food Programs and Services page for our Free Farmers Market schedule.

Housing

Housing stability foundational for anyone’s well-being, and our team works with guests to identify and secure permanent housing that is safe and affordable. This often requires assistance navigating Section 8 options, negotiating with landlords, or reviewing leases and other documents. When necessary, we can provide direct financial assistance with rent, security deposits or utility payments in order to stabilize an individual or family. We help guests find housing placements in emergency shelters during Code Blue conditions and connect people to transitional housing like midway houses or halfway house when appropriate. It is far easier to keep someone housed than to find new housing, especially if there is a period of homelessness. Our eviction prevention services are essential in achieving and maintaining stability for many of our guests.

Mental Health

At nourish.NJ, we know that mental health is inseparable from physical health, and nourish.NJ is committed to motivating and empowering clients to take action when it comes to their mental health. We use the DSM 5 manual to diagnosis mental health issues, and then employ appropriate treatment methods. We also assist with payments for prescription medications when needed. When guests need a higher level of care or help with specific problems such as substance use disorders, we refer them to other providers and follow up on their care and treatment plans. We often collaborate with social workers at other agencies and advocate to ensure that guests have access to the resources necessary to meet their needs.

Employment

nourish.NJ's Outreach Center assists guests with writing resumes and applying for jobs that fit each guest's qualifications and interests. Clients have access to nourish.NJ’s computers and other technology for the job search and application process, and we work one on one with guests to find out their skill set, identify opportunities, and practice interviews to build their confidence. We also can help guests financially to cover work-related expenses as they await their first paycheck, such as with transportation to their workplace or with purchasing a uniform or other appropriate attire.

General Case Management

Our general case management services include helping guests with applications for SNAP, disability or other benefits; medical case management in collaboration with their doctors or care team; providing household products and clothing, especially when clients find new housing; access to services and supplies for their children such as day care, WIC, and diapers; providing cash assistance for transportation to work or appointments; and assistance with utility bills.
